Community garden in a food desert,(food & flowers) and a play lot with equipment that promotes exercise as play time, (integrated and blended). A walking track around the playlot for parental health,community convenience, and parent child interaction. Could CHA secure a developer to build green, sustainable, energy efficient (solar) homes for residents that would accept the voucher instead of mortgage financing?
Perhaps some of foreclosure stock could be utilized or rehab?

Through HUD’s network of agencies and programs our community will be empowered to initiate personal and social change, as well as be provided with opportunities for self-sufficiency.
What you want to create are communities that will eventually sustain themselves. So you will need to work with Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Police/Fire Departments, Illinois Department of Human Services.
